One thing you missed by not seeing it was that it showed beyond a doubt that the Democrats did not want to free the slaves and did everything in their power to kill the 13th. The Republicans were the ones who freed the slaves. And even though the movie didn't talk about this, guess which party the KKK came out of. On top of all that, I've seen just about every movie ever made about Lincoln and Daniel Day Lewis was the best Lincoln ever, not to discount the brilliant role of Tommy Lee Jones.
