Those are very reasonable prices for a Standard Poodle puppy. When my daughter was looking, all of the puppies she was able to find were in the $2000-$3000 range. She ended up “rescuing” 2 dogs for free — one from a breeder (the dog turns out to have serious health problems, but she is managing) and one from someone who died. (Poodles are never “free” just because of the grooming expenses.)

She was looking for an adult dog that no one wanted to breed — not a puppy. But those were the prices she encountered. $2000-$3000.

Not bad for an adult. Lots of German Shepherd Babies were going for $1000-1500 when I was last looking, even though I really wasn’t interested in any kind of competition, seriously. My current was cheap at $600.
