My mother voted for Obama for the sole reason that she is a single-issue voter over abortion. She was afraid that Romney would overturn Roe v. Wade and ban abortion.

I tried to convince her that 1) Romney can't overturn Roe v. Wade, he has to appoint SCOTUS judges first, and then there has to be a case, 2) overturning Roe v. Wade doesn't "ban abortion," it only puts the issue back to the states to decide, and 3) the state she lives in (Florida) would not vote to ban abortion.

BTW, she's 71.

Why would she vote for Romney if he stated (this time) that he is pro-life? I say if your mother is so adamant about protecting to murder offspring for convenience, she is a lost cause anyway. I would focus on trying to persuade her that fundamentally, abortion for convenience is evil, thus change the single issue mind.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but...

Next time you talk to your Roe v Wade / Obama supporting Mother, thank her for not Aborting you.

Then tell her it’s too bad so many others can’t thank their Mothers for making the same decision that she did.

You may also want to mention Obama’s support for Post Birth Abortion when he was an Illinois State Senator.
