Notre Dame's strength of schedule ranks 40th among FBS teams. Yeah, the Irish have beaten Michigan, Stanford, and Oklahoma, but the rest of the schedule has been fairly cushy. (Undefeated Ohio State has the 42nd-ranked schedule.)
