I keep finding myself watching the episodes for this series but I'm not sure why. While I admire these guy's gumption to go all the way to Ghana to find gold, they are idiots to do this on a shoestring: they should have enough people to keep the operation running and for real security. Ghana is the usual Third World cesspool and things are compounded by the competition from armed Chinese claim-jumpers. Any real effort should have rented a company or so of what passes for the an army in that part of the world and they should have the tactical strength to fight the Chinese (and local farmers) off.

I was shocked and very disappointed to find Chinese exploiting Ghana’s gold and muscling out the two Americans. The two American guys are vastly outnumbered. If they had the money I think they would rent a native protection force to counter the ChiComs who are armed.
