My uncle who is a Kalamazoo city employee and full liberal did have some interesting comments about Detroit.
He said he had gone to help restore power that was lost when the remains of Sandy had taken out the power. He said he would fire every electrician and related official in the city if it were up to him. He said at least half the utilities workers are unqualified for the work and many couldn’t tell you the difference between AC and DC despite the fact that their lives do depend on it. He said some of the supervisors were openly smoking crack in the street with some of the workers and complaints to administration was just shrugged off. He said they don’t have the most basic equipment they need but they do have a lot of independently wealthy supervisors.
He said he hadn’t seen corruption on that scale since his peace corps days in central America. He said its open, blatant, and the norm. He says he can’t see anything changing till someone steps in fires everyone from the mayor on down.
I didn’t ask him if he had voted to overturn the emergency manager law.
Every city that has had Democrat "leadership" for the past 40 years is now largely a hellhole. Why can't liberals see the connection between free spending and financial ruin?
