You might remember growing up with walkie talkies, well today they are called two-way radios. I remember going to Radio Shack to look at their selection of walkie talkies as a kid and always dreaming of having a high powered military set that had ranges of over a mile. Today almost all two-way radios have ranges from 1 to 2 miles and they are much smaller than the ones we had a decade or so ago. Two-way radios are very useful - they are great for long road trips when taking separate cars, on the ski slopes, at amusement parks, when hunting or camping, on backcountry hiking trips, or even in large shopping malls. Businesses can use two-way radios instead of cell phones in many situations as well. There are no per minute charges with 2-way radios which is one benefit over traditional cell phone use. Plus, if you are in the woods where cell phone don't always work, a two-way radio may just save your life. What should you look for in a two-way radio from the store? We get into two-way radio features in our buying guide down below.

As for the "no hiding" bravado, put the Lat/Lon on a billboard in the nearest urban area. Man up, son.
Getting the transformer and finding all the caps has been more than I've been willing to do, so far. I've got a lot of other projects going.

So, you went from silly to just plain stupid. Can’t fix you.
I am truly fixed now.
Except of course, when your advice is not to ...

Terrible advice. In Colorado if you have a gun, shut up. The cop doesnt care unless you are handling one or pointing it at him. Simply let him do his job and stop trying to be a self-centered idiot bragging that you have a CCW or that you are a responsible citizen exercising my right to carry in a vehicle. He doesnt care. Just dont go making an issue about it."
You obviously are a dumb kid, with a total lack of reading comprehension. The first item you posted is about trying to hide an completely legal hobby and the second is about the law. Neither of which you obviously understand. Stupid cannot be fixed. You’re such a victim, boo-hoo. Seriously, you have a reputation of being a crybaby always claiming someone said something against you. Grow up, kid.
I used to use a pretty sophisticated code and encryption device in the service, but I thought that maybe pig Latin was retro enough that the big boys had forgot how to break it.
Back to the drawing boards.
Damn, you got a way with words that brings a tear to the eye!
MOLON LABE!
The amateur band plan for 2007 and 2012 both show No Code Techs may use the SSB phone freqs of 28.300 to 28.500 up to 200W if I’m reading the chart right. They may also use 28.000 to 28.300 for RTTY and data.
Bump for later
Exactly. Any time you have to fill out paperwork, they've got you. Any time you use your credit card, they know what you're buying. Anytime you log onto your computer, they know what you're up to. I used to laugh at people who were afraid of Big Brother but not anymore. That said, having a couple longer range radios is good to learn about events further away but I'd rather use the little cheap 5-10 mile radios (and rechargable batteries) for family use as those won't be overheard so much.
Thanks for the information. I expect I'll be teaching my grandkids to get their licenses in a few years. I'll encourage code, but that may or may not work.

If they're using the same data as those online people search sites, then I'm safe.
“as those won’t be overheard so much. “
Get real, they can be heard from miles away. The military and intelligence agencies maintains vehicles for intercepting VHF/UHF transmissions, and aircraft, and drones, and satellites, and listening stations. Hell, you can’t trigger the mic without at least multiple devices being able to hear you.
As I said, you can try to hide anything and everything about yourself but that, alone, can tell “them” much about you. The viewpoint is this, unless “they” can prove you are not a threat then you are a threat. If you fit a basic profile, male/age/etc, then you are a threat unless proven otherwise. Hide? Not a chance. You had better be prepared to confront any attackers head on and not hope you can hide under the bed screaming “But I didn’t use a credit card! dammit!”
Dang, some folks sure have their panties in a wad today. Guess you couldn’t be bothered to read what you quoted before trying to spin it. I said the short range ones wouldn’t be overheard “so much” as the longer range. Is everyone who’s listening military intelligence? Huh? No, I didn’t think so. You don’t think the libs down the road won’t be listening? Do you really think the average zombie would have drones and satellites monitoring your every move? No, YOU get real and quit spinning posts.
*Ping*
Or not.
Listen, turd, you have your head up your ass so far you’re not making any sense, not that you ever have. If you want to yell at the cops that you have a gun, go ahead and create that situation. Love to see it. If you want to hide from “them” and not get a ham radio license because you think that places you on a “list”, go ahead and sit on your ass and do nothing instead. I don’t care less, but you seem to want to be my hero. Sorry, but you’ll never be my hero. Now go ask your mommy for a pat on the head before you have a meltdown and throw a tempur tantrum in the Wal-Mart toy section.
“I used to laugh at people who were afraid of Big Brother but not anymore. “
Your entire post was about government, not zombies, so you can make that excuse but it doesn’t fit.
