IF this oath is correct, how the hell do we allow dual citizenship?

My daughter-in-law took this oath at a very patriotic ceremony. Bush was still President and his video to the new citizens was awesome.

I proudly took this oath in 1968, after the required 5 years of being a legal resident. I was 19, and couldn’t wait to vote. In 1972 I registered as a Republican and voted for Nixon. I’ve been voting Republican ever since...and now I have so many doubts about voting Republican again. What is the difference between the two parties? “When salt looses its flavor, it is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.”

I took this Oath Dec. 14, 2007. I am a proud US Citizen, and very thankful for our outstanding Military folks. God bless our beautiful country.

Except that bit about renouncing foreign allegiance/citizenship is now ignored by our government that has shrugged and permits dual citizenship even among immigrants.

And Islamists say it means nothing and that they don’t have to support any of America’s wars against Islamic nations.
