I thought that was directed at me, LOL. Yes, your answer is better than mine...but even mine would probably be enough to keep it off the headlines, yet still not compromise anything. And I agree - life of the mother is certainly acceptable - since someone will die either way (anyway).

FWIW, I would not say that to a FReeper in good standing. The mother's life exemption is logically defensible as you note. Tragic, but medical necessity sometimes has cruel and tragic outcomes. Akin and Mourdock both have the correct position on the issue, they just said stupid things that allowed their position to be twisted and caricatured and that blew up both campaigns. So the moral of the story is, have the right positions, and be smart about articulating them. Captain Obvious, I know, but ignoring that cost us two Senate seats this year.
