Just started naming them this year,,think the Weather channel started it very stupid..we have got about 6 inches since morning big deal...its like winter don't ya know..naming a snowstorm docent make it any different than last time it snowed

That’s my question too and I have a legitimate concern. My house insurance deductible goes up to 2% of the total damage from any NAMED storm.
My main concern is named hurricanes. We just got through Sandy on the MA SouthCoast.
Now we have a routine nor’easter blowing through and somebody gave it a name. If I get any damage, my deductible goes up.
So, who is naming these routine storms? NOAA?
Anybody know the answer to this?

I think it's part of the government's climate scare plan so they'll get away with massive increases in regulations and taxes.
Post #15 also brings up an interesting possibility.
