Gov. Rick Perry's Facebook page is definitely interesting right now, to say the least. There is a lot of talk, urging him to consider having Texas secede from the union.
While I believe that talk of secession is a bit dramatic right now, I understand where people are coming from.
Frankly, I would support getting a coalition behind Gov. Perry for 2016 to take back the White House!
Thoughts?
I will move to Texas also. I do not want to live in socialist Amerika!
NO NO NO....
Secession talk is for quitters. It’s an easy out.
It’s like saying, I don’t want to be part of the USA anymore, but I don’t want to pick up and move away.
F*** that kind of talk. We’re Americans. Alone, Texas would fall. And without Texas, SO/SW US is a failure. Better together, that’s Texas and the US.
Besides...I haven’t perfected my brisket yet. Still need your compadres to help me out :-)
I would most of the south would join texas and states in the plains.. Since most hispanics live mostly south part of Texas could sell that part to Mexico...
I’m for standing and fighting where I’m planted. Here in Michigan we are winning a little at a time.
Last night we did hold all of our GOP congressional seats (one went tea party) and crushed two of the world’s worst pro union ballot proposals and a green energy proposal.
All the liberals fleeing for Texas is helping us out. LOL
I think the argument can be made that none of us live in the USA anymore, at least not a USA any of us will ever recognize again. Why not secede and start over, learning from the mistakes that killed the USA? There are no habitable empty continents to run to, so all that is left is to fight for self-determination. A country split this evenly on almost every issue simply cannot stand. There’s no point in pretending that we remain one nation.
Sam Houston once said that Texas can make it without America, but America can’t make it without Texas.
Rush asked a question earlier this week: If we split the nation along the Mississippi and gave the east to the liberals and the west to conservatives, how long would it be before the liberals were digging tunnels into the west?
there comes a time when a marriage cannot be saved, I am said to say. Texas, unfortunately, has an abusive, alcoholic spouse. It is past time for a divorce. The thing is, I really don’t see the northeast or west coast being interested is stopping us - I figure they will be glad to see us go - and so would we. Someone in Texas government needs to start serious talks along these lines, negotiate the divorce, and let’s end this thing.
When Texas chose to join the union, we did not sign up for a suicide pact. America has broken her contract with Texas, it’s time for us to negotiate an agreed departure.
As both a Texan and one who loves the beauty of the principles of our republic as founded, I have mixed feelings about secession. It would be a cataclysmic undertaking, and could be disastrous. That said, I think Texas is the one state with the large enough population, diversified economy, and natural resources to make it as a separate sovereign state.
Heck, we will all be able to move down to Mehico before too long as there won’t be anybody left down there except a few drug lords and crooked politicians / policemen.
I wish I had marketable skills to move myself.
I would rather support him leading the Red states to secede. This election has proven that people who believe in and follow the rule of law have no voice and no place among the Democrats' rule by thugs, gangs and criminals who have NO regard for the rule of law. As for 2016, let's see how the next year or two go before we start making any plans.
Texas, by itself, would be comparable to Australia. A little larger in population, a little small economy (about 14th). We have oil, natural gas, high tech, agriculture. It would be very viable as a stand alone country. And it would be growing very fast with business friendly policies.
Of course, we would have a few friends who would like to tag along, I’m thinking OK for one. Add up a few contiguous states and we would have a very powerful country well into the top 10 and fast growing.
I’ve been talking up secession for quite some time. I hope a plurality of states with perhaps Texas leading the discussions can begin to have a serious conversation with movers and shakers to get this thing rolling.
This country has crossed the tipping point and I can't think of a way for a solid conservative to ever win the WH again.
My advice to Perry would be to stay in TX.
BTW, I'd be thrilled to move to TX if TX would secede, in spite of your hot weather.
Why do we need Perry? We have our very own President King.
We should make King king.
Yes, and the mere occurrence of actual, public state discussions of the possibility of secession may finally get the attention of the DC ruling class and convince them how serious people are about limited government.
If that happens, there won’t be any battleground states.
“Frankly, I would support getting a coalition behind Gov. Perry for 2016 to take back the White House”
In a New York minute. I would give up everything I own. He was our guy. I donated to his campaign. When the good conservatives ridiculed him and chose not to support him in South Carolina and he dropped out,I supported Romney with all my heart.I donated to his campaign. When the good conservatives spat and turned their backs and chose not support him nationally, I went into a state of depression and there I remain reading all the sick excuses from those who deserted the cause for a cause of their own so that Obama could stroll back in. I would give the last days of my life if Rick could lead us out of this abyss for the sake of future generations. I confess to being a drama queen. I’m sure we would never leave the union but if we did, there would suddenly be a lot of believers in work and Mitt’s plan. The Little Red Hen. They probably would even want to follow. Anyway, not in my lifetime.
