Many pardons but search does not appear to be working right now.
Since 3am this morning when I got up and checked the election results, I've been trying to figure out what happened. Mr. Kitty sent me a blog post that I really think explains why BO actually won a second term.
And while it may be combination of many things, I really do believe that the main reason Obama won is because of a dramatic change to the social structure of the United States.
Those of us old enough to remember the Carter presidency believed that, like Reagan's landslide victory, people would be so fed up with the economy, high gas prices, Middle East unrest, and so on, that Romney would win and win big. (When everything old is new again)
But what we didn't consider was the change in American culture that has happened in the last 30 years. Looking at the stats on the blog I have linked to, the largest group voting for Obama is single women, with or without children. In 1980, most women having children were married. now, women are marrying later or choosing not to marry at all whether of not they have children.
What we have now is a society where the traditional male role of husband/father has been supplanted by the government. 40% of all children are being born to single mothers, more than 70% if the mother is African American. America's voting population has experienced a dramatic change in the past 30 years.
What ever the cause, feminism, careers, etc., we have to face the fact that a large number casting their vote are looking at the government as a replacement for husband and father.
I really believe that it's not that Mitt wasn't conservative enough, or the evangelicals stayed home, or whatever. It's the fact that the voting population has changed and the majority of women voting aren't voting for a president, but are voting for government to support them.
If the republicans and/or conservatives want to win, they are going to have to find a way to address the issue of government as supporter/daddy for a majority of the women voters
Agreed. But what do we do to counteract that?
We are at war, a war for the heart and soul of America and her people, folks. We suffered a major defeat. Let's try to figure out how we can turn that into a ictory next time around.
Lots of silly responses here. It’s not about the demographics, it’s not about sluts and nuts (they vote Dim no matter what), and it’s not about Candy Crowley or media bias. We lost because Romney could not inspire REPUBLICANS to get out and vote for him. Fewer votes than McInsane? Humiliating. We have met the enemy and they are us. Next time we should nominate a limited government freedom-loving conservative. For now, though, we have the President we deserve.
another issue. What do we need to do to fire up our base. I know I may rub some people here the wrong way, but Reagan is dead. There will never be another Ronald Maximus.
But that doesn't mean that there will never be another great conservative leader.
And we just have to realize that the democrats who voted for Reagan no longer exist. How do we address the current population and get them to realize that our plan is better for them!!??
We're already at war. We lost a major battle. What can we do to not let that happen again??
Heard that too and it's so true.
Unfortunately winning elections, IMO, has become more style over substance. The cool, fun candidate is usually the winner. Sadly, Mitt Romney did not have the charisma necessary to win this race. He came across as Thurston Howell III to many, many people. If he would have been a little younger, a little cooler, and maybe just a tad darker I really believe he would have won big. His ideas did not undo him. Just my opinion of course.
Gave this a lot of thought overnight and came to the following conclusion:
It is very difficult to unseat an incumbent President, even one whos a miserable failure. To do this you have to give people someone and something to vote for, we did not offer that. Instead what we offered was a reason and permission to vote against Barack Obama. That was not enough to unseat him. I believe all the other excuses/reasons fall under this one.
You can never overestimate the stupidity of the American people - same today as a hundred years ago....
He won because less Republican voters showed up than four years ago.

“There were also the Poor widdle Pwesident! He twy so hard! We need to give him more time! people. The worst of the bunch.”
Gotta bleeve that too.
Beautiful. That's so true.
Now how do we get this across to all of the single women and mother's who are looking to BO and big government??
Seriously, this is our goal.
I disagree. We have to get across to them that goodies are just temporary and come with a really high price tag.
We want to get across that we don't offer a temporary, feel good bandaid. We have to let them know that we have real long term answers.
Coming at this now as a general - what do we do to combat this? How do we package our message to make it attractive to those who have never known the feeling of self-worth that comes from hard work and earned rewards? We have to sell our message to a larger group than those who read FR. To win, we have to explain why self-reliance is superior to sitting in the dark and waiting for FEMA to come and turn on the lights.
If we wait for four years to make plans, we will be lost for much longer. We have to get our OODA loop ready now. Observe, orient, decide, act.
We should pick one population that voted for BO and determine how to convert them NOW, not in four years.
Are we going to sit here for four years and feel sorry for ourselves and throw in the towel?? Was it over when the German bombed Pearl Harbor??
Honestly? I think the dam is about to break and things will get exponentially worse. The situation on the ground will do much to dictate future political outcomes. Not sure we really need to do anything but be ready for it when it happens.
So how can we reverse that.
Not can we reverse that.
We owe it to our children and grandchildren to fight the good fight and make this country great again, regardless of who our President is.
The founding fathers purposely made our presidents weak. It's up to we, the people, to take back our country from the godless socialists who are now in charge. But we can't do it alone. We have to develop a plan. We have to be able to sell that plan to as many on the other side as possible. That is what we have to accomplish in the next four years.
He cheated using “Siphoning of votes” changing Romney votes to his own, to win.....O’Reilly wants to go down in history....solve the siphoning of votes in election 2012...
bama couldn’t win an honest election if he tried,...
Good luck with your message.
I don't think we're a lost cause either. My whole point, somewhat indirectly, in starting this discussion is to try to brainstorm some ideas to help win the war.
We need more buy-in to conservative ideas, but how to get that while overcoming the media created boogie man of the big bad conservative who burns crosses on lawns and wants women barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen?
What can we do to get our real message out? WE are the party of real freedom. That freedom comes from self-reliance and self-responsibililty. That tolerance doesn't man acceptance and that that's okay.
We have a lot of work over the next few years. The road to 2016 starts today.
