I’m in Minnesota, at lunch time ie Explorer takes 5-10 min to get to the comments page. Firefox seems to be 10 times faster, but still painfully slow. I only take 1/2 hour for lunch, so I get to Freep for 10-15 minutes on a good day. Thinking I’d rather eat than surf.
I use IE with slowww response time getting to things-since last week. This is what I have found out works - mash that F5 - refresh key.
(The box by the top line that USED to do refresh, does not seem to work anymore.)
I find sites with mainly writing is far better than those others with all the ads and pics - being nearly impossible.
For the ads and pics ones, I do the F5 thing a few times till I see it starting. Then I put away that window - for a longggggggggg time, before I go to see if it did connect - generally eventually it does connect.
For the words kind like FR, I just keep mashing that F5, watching at the bottom of that screen to see that it says something like WAITING FOR - to be sure what I am doing is getting noticed.
When it has not yet appeared and everything has stopped, says DONE, I mash some more.
FR comes up pretty quick for me now doing that. Of course, doing POSTs takes a bit of doing. I do like Jim says, if I dont see it return to me after post - sometimes it does, other times not - get up another window at that thread or my list of posts, to see if it was taken.
Sometimes I click on the pull down of just-done links, to see what it thinks I have done - and click there on what I want —> top left by the circles for forward-back and then the down arrow.
This is how I avoid fooling with the post page AFTER I have posted - according to 2nd window of FR.
