I drove all around the San Fernando Valley, today (northern LA county) and didn’t see ONE Obama bumper sticker. I was amazed by that. Only as I approached home, near the local University, did I see one.
I think this is telling. People are afraid to have Romney/Ryan stickers on their cars out here, for fear of being shunned by the community and co-workers in a liberal area of California.
The fact that NO ONE is sporting BO stickers in 2012 is a ‘dog whistle,’ I guess they call it.
NO MORE multi-trillion deficits, a fiscal war on children.
I see very few of them here in the Hollywood/Beverly Hills area... and most of the ones I see are from 4 years ago. It's totally the opposite of what I saw four years ago here.
Can I share another "dog whistle" with you?
When I was out today I was scanning people's faces to get an idea of their mood. Many looked grim. Some looked preoccupied. Few looked happy.
But on a few occasions, our eyes met. And when our eyes met, a look registered on their faces. It was a look of grim satisfaction.
I knew I'd seen that look before. Then I remembered.
February 4, 1997.
The evening of that particular date, I locked eyes with many, many people who gave me that same look.
It was eerie, remembering that.
There is a lot of anger out there. Anger that will be expressed in a Constitutional and orderly manner, in a matter of days and hours.
