Considering getting a SKS 7.62 for larger game and ‘predators’.
Any opinions or advice?

The SKS is probably one of the most dependable firearms ever made. I carried one for years behind the seat of my truck as a “ranch gun” for shoot’n coyotes,snake and such. the 7.62x39 is good out 4-500 yds. if the bolt freezes up just take your foot and kick on it and start shoot’n

if you can get a nice one for under $400 with some extra mags.I’ve had one for 25+ years. got it back when they were under $100 bucks every where.

great rifle, just make damn sure it's pointed down range or at the ground when chambering a round as the firing pin has NO spring and can stick if not kept clean...
i highly recommend replacing it with a Murry's Stainless Steel SKS firing pin WITH spring.
