Absolutely. I grew up with 1, and insist on it in our houses (my last house didn’t, but that’s another story). MIL (PA, ironically) doesn’t know why it’s a big deal to have such an antiquated thing you’re not going to use much at all that could be “dangerous” and drafty. But, they DO come in handy.

Gas would be fine if the safety wimps would allow us ways to light pilots ourselves these days. Oh, no, everything has to be “safe” - and to hell with you if you freeze or roast or can’t eat.

My gas stove has electric ignition, but if the power is off it lights just fine with a match or lighter.
