We can never be too care full, because we never know who is keeping an eye on what we do and say.

Don’t give the bad guys ideas. Do you know how many would click the button even with something malicious attached?

Yes, sadly you are correct.
I would bet that if CNN had it on their site, 10’s of 1000’s of liberals would click it.

Umm... this is satire, right?
If your computer is off... it’s off. Your hard disks require electricity to run. If the computer is off, regardless of network connectivity, nothing can be read or written, even sleep-state RAM.

Yes, I even used the humor tag, but I wanted to have some fun during a very serious time.
A little levity will help us all keep our sanity in time like these.
That is why I wrote it the way I did, but still used the humor tag.
It will still be interesting to know how many actually fall for it.

I told my wife once, that when I thought that when I leave a room she just stops moving and goes limp like a rag doll. And she probably doesn’t move again until I enter the room again.
It actually started an argument, because she was already upset over something and I had the nerve to suggest she doesn’t do anything.
It took some groveling to attain her forgiveness, but by the time we went to bed she was much more responsive to my pleas of sorrow over daring to suggest she doesn’t do anything when I am not around.
You would think that after 25 years I would know better, but I still put my foot in my mouth at least once a Month if not more. Usually it coincides with a certain time of the Month and my not realizing what day of the Month it is before I day something stupid.

Sadly, I know people who disconnect their broadband routers when they’re not using their computers. I’ve tried to explain to them that they can’t be hacked, but they don’t believe it.
Lock down your wireless network if you’re concerned, but otherwise it’s the provider’s responsibility to secure their POI equipment.

Well there is some truth to this is you use an always-on broadband connection. Even if you log off your Windows session, your connection is still active if you leave your computer on most of the time like I do. That's why you should have some kind of firewall software installed, up-to-date and running all the time.
I've been running Microsoft Essentials for about a year now and have been satisfied with it. It's a combined firewall, anti-virus and anti-malware package. And it's free from Microsoft.

If your computer is off... its off. Your hard disks require electricity to run. Satire, yes. But the article states:
Yes, if you fail to actually turn the internet off first before you log off
So, yes, turning the PC off will secure your data. However, simply logging off will not do the same thing.
