فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانتَهُوا
And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain from it. [59:7]
Ibn Abbaas رضى
الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم prohibited the eating of all fanged beasts, and all birds having talons [Saheeh Muslim]
Therefore, according to Real Islaam, true Muslims never touch the meat of dogs, lions, cats, bears, crocodiles, snakes, eagles, hawks, falcons, which are all Haraam, along with any other animal that has fangs or bird that has talons.
However, according to those who reject the Hadeeth and claim to follow Quraan only, dog, lion, cat, bear, crocodile, snake, eagle, hawk, and falcon meat is Halaal!
Because in the Quraan Allaah says that only pork, blood, dead meat, and any animal upon whom other than Allaah's Name is pronounced is forbidden.
This once again proves that Islaam needs both Quraan and Hadeeth, because Allaah says in the Quraan that whatever the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم allows you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it.*
