As a new dog owner this is my biggest fear. If my dog somehow managed to hurt someone I’d be the first to take care of the situation.

However, if my dog is playing with my kids and some cop comes out of no where and shoots it, then, as it’s doing what we are told to do by the cops and escape the attacker and the cop gives chase to shoot it again..

well...

I can’t say what would happen next.

Plus, my dog is a Basset. My son can almost walk faster than the dog can run. If he growls at you, walk away at a fast pace. Don’t worry, he won’t catch up.

Sadly, a dog-shooting cop would likely see your basset as an easy target.

I recommend you have one of these (No! No! That does NOT go in your mouth. I thought Salamander trained you better!) for protection:
