AVERAGE...... $4.61.

Gas prices set a record in California "Several service stations are charging more than $5 a gallon for regular gasoline. Some have stopped selling gas because they don’t want to pay the high wholesale price, which reached a record Thursday....."

Does it look like the Hollywood Libs getting on the action of the gasoline black market in this crises ?
Will the police release the names of those caught stealing the gasoline ?

He said they came back again during store hours and siphoned 300 more gallons

Way too many people do not understand how siphoning works.

I believe that is unlikely that thieves could ‘siphon’ gasoline from an underground storage tank in to a tank in their truck bed.

Siphoning is a process by which a fluid is moved from a higher elevation to a lower elevation through a tube by the actions of gravity and vacuum. This is a very simple principle which the average reporter should know.

Being that the gasoline is at a lower elevation in the underground tank a pump would be required to move the gasoline from the tank to the truck.

“Several service stations are charging more than $5 a gallon for regular gasoline.”

Five dollar gas will swing California to Romney!

Even in Texas I hear that gas is $5.00 a gallon!

came back again during store hours and siphoned 300 more gallons, but a cashier recognized the suspicious vehicle and took down its license plate.

That is pretty darn brazen, isn’t it? Very bold.

This is not a good sign.

That’s one observant cashier...good for him / her. Most of them usually asleep at the register.

Well that’s one way of creating a “pipeline” in a NIMBY state.

I wonder how long someone could store that much gas. Since its contaminated with Ethanol, they’ll have to move it, because it can go bad just sitting there in a tank.

They could probably move that stuff in as long as it takes to pump it all into vehicles if they sold it for $2.50-$3.00 per gallon(without blowing themselves up).

“but a cashier recognized the suspicious vehicle and took down its license plate. “

How long does it take to “siphon” 300 hundred gallons of gas?
Why would a observant cashier not use that time to call police.?

They have a video surveillance system and got hit three times?

Roseville is on I80. When was the last time you saw a closed gas station near a major freeway?

If they do close why aren’t the pumps and tanks locked?

Roseville is near Rio Linda.

If I had to suspect who was needing to steal a large amount of gas I would go head to the nearest marina and see who is suddenly fueling up their tanks.

First off California gas is crap, you have problems trying to store it. As far as pumping it from 8’ down they make daphram pumps or sewage pumps as they are called, you can buy them from Graingers with fuel proof rubber.

This is nothing, wait until a tanker truck gets hijacked.

Here in Alaska we also are seeing $.09 a gallon gas, but we are just shutting things down until it stabilizes. Canceling deliveries unless the contractors agree to pay the recent additional delivery charge for fuel.

Even more so people will Escape from California. They made their bed, chose who to sleep with and now they wake up with the smell. boo hoo hoo
