Another useless doper disposed of!
“Authorities said that the officer attempted to retreat several times in an attempt to defuse the situation but that the officer was left with no choice but to shoot when Collar made one final charge.”
Bizarre. If that’s the way it really went down, and I had to guess, I’d say meth or “bath salts” may have been a factor. PCP can sometimes cause that sort of behavior too, but I don’t know if Dust is all that popular these days.
Sad story, either way.
Horrible writing.
Idiot reporter alert. Starts out at the University of Alabama, ends up at USA, and no connection in the story between the two schools. It’s clear that no editor saw the story, but you’d think the reporter would read back over it.
"Well, when I see a naked man chasing a woman down an ally with intent to commit rape, I shoot the bastard. That's my policy." Harry Callahan.
"Intent? How did how did you determine that?" Mayor.
Well, when I see a naked man with a meatcleaver chasing a woman down an ally, with a h**d-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross." Harry Callahan.
I'm not looking for hysterical second-guessing here, it just seems that a non-lethal shooting might have been plausible.
I guess the cops didn’t have any dogs to shoot on a college campus.
Once again some trigger-happy donut-muncher acts like the coward that most of these ‘roided out thugs are.
I hope this kid’s parents sue everyone in sight and clean up big time.
I agree with you as usual but you’ve given the cop kneepadding JBLs something to gloat over
Girl cop maybe?
can we agree he was not hiding a pistol or knife on his person?
Sounds like a lady cop.
Women in uniform are far more dangerous than men as they MUST resort to deadly force without warning as they are incapable of restraining a grown man any other way.
Statistics back this up.
Yet another reason why women should not be police nor firefighters.
My field of expertise (campus safety)...but I would need more info to really assess this situation
If this student charged repeatedly after the officer, and the officer made numerous attempts to avoid confrontation, then the shooting is justified.
Although tasers and pepper spray/mace may be preferred methods...remember that these schools do not have the money anymore for firearms AND tasers....and when that choice is made...schools go with firearms. Also, tasers and sprays get colleges in as much trouble as firearms....remember it is very liberal people you are dealing with at colleges and universities...even in the South. There would be as much outcry if this kid was tasered or sprayed.
As someone already mentioned, it is the responsibility of the parents and the student that the student is mature and adult enough to handle being on his own and in college. Acting stupid gets you into trouble
WOW.
73 “experts” responding to this post.
Let me point out a few things:
1. You weren’t there. You have no idea what actually happened.
2. Your response ought to vascilate somewhere in the area of “Gee, that sounds odd. I’m interested in hearing the entire context of the event so I don’t rush to judgement and say something ignorant”
3. You that posted “Gosh, why didn’t they just shoot him in the leg or something”: That was the same comment made by Hillary Clinton about US Soldiers in Bosnia. It was ignorant then and is equally ignorant now.
4. The last two shootings I’ve been involved in have involved death by cops wishers that got their wish - not by law enforcement’s choice but by their own.
5. Would anyone here rather read the headline “Drug Crazed Naked Man Shoots and Kills South Alabama Police Officer with His Service Weapon”.
6. They’re the Jaguars, by the way. No affilation with the 14 time National Champion University of Alabama Crimson Tide.
