Couple of things I get from this article:

This particular NYPD unit NEVER does car stops. Ever. For them to pull this guy over he must have been driving like an absolute lunatic. And this is not a back country road we're talking about.

The off-duty cop is a criminal herself who is on her way to being fired. She is technically still employed but she does not have a gun or shield. Can't trust her at all.

As for the shooting I can't say what happened. If he reached under the seat, then he reached. The cops were definitely warranted to have their guns out if they had to pull the car over in the first place. But that's all I can say at this point.

How is the driver supposed to operate the window or door lock without reaching?

Then who was "the source" for the story that she was waving her badge out the window??? It doesn't say that "she" was the source.

Can't trust her at all.

I won't disagree with that as she is now probably being offered her job back as long as she claims that she was asleep and heard and saw nothing.

And if his hands were on the steering wheel as the passenger [who was not a criminal said] then what???

The cops were definitely warranted to have their guns out if they had to pull the car over in the first place.

When is that warranted??? Show me that in the police manual???

BTW the police vehicles were unmarked.

The NYPD is corrupt to the core. I got pulled over for a seatbelt ticket once AFTER I exited my car when I had my seat belt on. When I politely asked for the officer’s name I was told we can find another ticket to give. I filed a civilian complaint which was turned down because we were the same race. I found a “hidden” internal affairs complaint #. They called me a month later on NYE at 11:30PM! Then New years day at 6am. Called when back in NY on 1/3 and told sorry, u didn’t call back in time. I then was told to refile the complaint which they contacted me 15 months later.

Look at the facts. This cops were charged with cursing people out in past. The witnesses said (without knowing his background) that an unmarked car was cursing them out. Then the guy died. The cops then said the guy killed himself. I believe the NYPD officer murdered him.
