Lots of conflicting signals in this economy. We’re vacationing in HI, currently on Oahu. We took a tour yesterday & our guide was telling us how busy October has been for the locals - a month when things usually quiet down. He figured if it was this busy in the ‘slow’ month, all h*ll will break out when they’re busy season starts around November/December vacations.
BTW, gas here is around $4.50/gal.
Maybe people are thinking this is their last chance at an island vacation. Next year, they may not have jobs and inflation will make any vacation out of the question. A last hurrah.
