This guy is absolutely right.

Prop 31 is a Trojan Horse for urban Democrats to soak the suburbs with confiscatory taxes.

Stan Kurtz has been all over the talk shows pointing this out.

This is part of the Obama "Get Whitey" gig: if you try to leave us behind in the cities we destroyed, forget it because we'll get your money anyway with "regional government".

Gee, I thought that's what a County was in the United States. Silly me.

Vote NO on 31, California, or else for the folks in Concord, get ready to send ALL your cash to Oakland.

Thank you for shining some light on this proposition, which even now seems to be stealthily moving to passage.

It's illustrative to read the actual text that would destroy local representative government, and replace it with an unaccountable, unelected "regional" system.

As you've pointed out, a major backer is Nicolas Berggruen . Who seems to think that California, even in the near-total grip of the public employee unions and the Democrat party has too much liberty, too much say for the "little people".

From my link: "For instance, he argues there’s much that Western democracies can learn from autocracies such as Singapore. As he puts it admiringly, the political leaders there really know how to get things done."

And maybe the trains will run on time.
