If the Illinois DEP is anything like the Connecticut DEP.....they *DENY* the existence of cougars in the state, until one turns up as road kill.

I have yet to get an answer from the CT DEP as to why this cougar [which, according to them, could not possibly exist]as photographed by my friend, romping in her back yard on Avon Mountain. It has a radio collar. Heh.
