I’m on a 20ac working Farm, formerly much larger but since I folded the Family Farm Business after 21yrs last Nov, it’s much smaller now. Neighbors are all-around, but like-minded Conservative Farmers and we pro-actively-protect each other/everything for many miles around. We keep to ourselves; that TV exposure is inviting disaster when SHTF. That basement leads to this custom 20ft x 40ft “Family Safe Unit”, underground:

Where do you store ‘preps’?

The vacuum sealers are the best invention to come along in a long time IMHO.

Interesting how we all live our lives differently - some of it depends on where we are.

Good for you not going on T.V. I appreciated the shows on survival I’ve seen, but felt bad those folks’revealed’ themselves.

We have the most elementary food storage - - -
In the garage.
Because we’re in earthqake country, we know the risk. Unbelievably, most do not. Well, we do - right after an emergency - but that slowly evaporates.

Just a few years ago, the days suggested to be prepared to ‘take care of ourselves’ was upped to 7, from 3.

Now, if we’re talking an H-bomb, I’d sooner go instantly then deal with the grissly aftermath - - -
But the emergencies here would most likely be weather/earthquakes/fires.

I have enough firearms/ammo/food/water/etc to survive w/ Dad (WWII Battle of the Bulge Hero) for 6-8mos, but if we’re going back to the Stone Age or worse with an H-Bomb, I guess I’d rather get it over with sooner than later. Natural disasters are few and far between in the Mid-Atlantic, and are pretty easily dealt with, but a massive economic/societal collapse levels/lowers the field everywhere. Everyone’s a loser, longterm. It’s just a matter of degrees-of-separation.
