One of the virtues of a sword cane is that it doesn’t appear to be a weapon. The war hammer like appearance of this cane screams WEAPON, defeating any desire one might have of keeping a low profile. What is more, the sword cane / sheath comprises the hammers effectivesness, leaving one with an inferior sword and poorly handled hammer.

Who comes up with this stuff?

For an elderly lady, I would recommend something with more finesse. Typically a common cane has a rubber tip, but through the cane above it, the blade of a chestnut knife would be impressively dangerous. Bap somebody with the cane and leave a foot long gash.
