That’s correct. Anytime you put your trust or faith in man or man run things (America, government, the GOP, the media, etc.) you are going to get let down. Put your trust in God and set your sights on eternal things and all these other things going on are put into perspective.
Yeah, what he said...Your hope cannot be in institutions - even good ones - that rely on man. Proverbs 3:5-6
Please don’t say despair is a sin. It’s a feeling. It’s what we do with the feeling that counts.
You are right to trust in God. The advice I would give to the Lady who cried last night is to pray for the best and prepare her life for the worst.
Thank you for that.
Everytime I turn on Glenn Beck or Rush and hear them hold forth on the current state of things, my tendency to give in to despair is very great.
God is bigger than this. That is where we all must turn. ‘Pod.
The next thing to do if he wins re-election is to steady yourself for bad times. It will be extremely difficult for your faith. Many will fail. I pray to God I have the strength to keep Jesus on my mind and lips when I am put to the test. And we will be put to the test.
Do not despair. Keep the faith. Be not afraid. God has a plan. He knows the number of hairs on your head. He cares for you and will not fail you if you keep the faith.
That's just bullsh!t utter nonsense.
Fixating on it and/or wallowing in it certainly 'misses the mark', but simply experiencing the phenomenon is no more a 'sin' than joy or anger or sweet potatoes.

“Despair is a sin. Trust in God.” I know you are right, that is Biblical instruction. But it is hard, hard, hard. Worry, anxiety, even when Bible says to be “anxious about nothing.” But it does help for other people (like you) to repeat and encourage the rest of us.
