I never said only athiests don’t vote for Virgil. I did point out that the position that a vote for Virgil Goode is stupid or a waste requires atheism...because it does.

If there is a God who is eternal, then the consequences for following or not following standards set by that god are also eternal, unlike the consequences for basing a decision on temporal reasons.

A long term gain versus a short term.

Nope. That position does not require atheism. On the contrary:

If there is a God who is eternal, then the consequences for following or not following standards set by that god are also eternal, unlike the consequences for basing a decision on temporal reasons.

A believer who sees that a vote for Virgil furthers the power of those adamantly use their power to who oppose God will not vote for Virgil.

And,since a vote for Virgil plainly furthers greater violations of the laws of God, those who believe it's Godly to vote for Virgil are exhibiting dumbness.

Better?
