FACTCHECK.ORG has looked at the above cuts and concluded thusly... (See here: http://factcheck.org/2012/08/about-those-republican-cuts/ )

___________________________________

Q: Would a “list of Republican budget cuts” by the “new Republican House” slash $2.5 trillion from federal spending over 10 years?

A: The list is real. But so far, there has been no action on the bill, which was sponsored by 33 conservative GOP House members.

The military needs to be on the list too. A lot of waste there also.

On the list: * John C. Stennis Center Subsidy — $430,000 annual savings.

Of course the dems will be against this cut even though Mrs O kind of mentioned Stennis in her rant the other day. Maybe the money is for chairs!?!

During her speech she told the story pasted below. What she forgot to mention was that the committee chairman was a DEMOCRAT, John Stennis, chairman from 1969-1981. But I’m sure the lefty press will be reporting that fact straight away. /s

“Now, this work wasn’t always easy, especially in the early years, when many members of this caucus faced challenges they never could have anticipated. For example, back in the early ‘70s, Congressman Ron Dellums was appointed to the Armed Services Committee — (applause) — as was Congresswoman Pat Schroeder. Displeased about having both a woman and an African American assigned to his committee, the chairman at the time added just one seat to the committee room — and he forced the two of them to share it. But Congressman Dellums was unphased. He said to Congresswoman Schroeder, “Let’s not give these guys the luxury of knowing they can get under our skin. Let’s sit here and share this chair as if it’s the most normal thing in the world.” (Laughter.)

I’d call that a good start.

How about:

EPA
HUD
Education
Homeland Security

and a collection of other obsolete and useless functions you can take your picks here. Don’t get lost, you could spend days here looking at all the crap we pay for that you never heard of or even imagined we pay for.

Sorry about the double post.

Regarding: * Require collection of unpaid taxes by federal employees — $1 billion total savings.

Why isn’t the IRS already docking the pay or retirement of the Fed workers who owe this money including interest and penalties?

Why is the Panama Canal Commission still listed as a U.S. Government Independent Agency? I thought the peanut farmer gave it away already.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation? WTH?

Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency for the District of Columbia? It takes a Federal Agency for this?

Ryan's list is a meager start. Eliminate the following and we will have more freedom and liberty: USDA, ED, DOE, HHS, HUD, and DOL. Then cut the Dept. of Commerce budget by 90%, DOD by 20%, DOJ by 40%, DHS by 30%, and State by 50%. Then give back all federal lands to the states, yes national parks included, and let the states do what they wish. (Read that as drill here, drill now.) Then we cut DOI’s budget by 90%.

Other eliminations would include all boards, commissions, committees and quasi-official agencies.

I am positive I can live without all that government.

The other thing not examined in the 2.5 Trillion reduction is that every government program shut down represents government employees or people on the government tit who will now have to go get jobs which contribute to GDP rather than drain it. What will that value added to the market place do for our tax revenues?
