My dad would say “kittywampus” if something was out-of-wack or askew. (Minnesota). Not sure on the spelling. I wonder if it has its roots in “kitty corner” - like two lots on the diagonal (askew - not straight across) from each other at an intersection.
My dad must have seen bigger errors, he used ‘cattywampus’, also in MN.
Typically that was cattywampus.

Another funny one, if someone was full after Sunday dinner, when asked if they’d like another slice of pie or something, they’d say “thank you, thank you very much, but no, I’m sufficiently sufficed.”
I believe “kitty corner” started life as “cater corner.”
I’ve heard two residences located diagonally across from each other at a street intersection described as “kitty corner across” from each other.
