Harrier pilot. The Marines never forget their own and still hold on to tradition. Not saying anything bad about the other branches just giving a good example to model after.

I’m getting to be an old man. My admiration for the Corps only grows. They remain a beacon of light that represents all that is American that is good.

Says at Wiki that the US Army brought the custom to America. Looks like the USAF added the “pull up” portion to the honor. Doesn’t mention the USMC.
