He's certainly not short of support for his re-election campaign.

Just 24 hours after Barack Obama was thrown a lavish fundraiser by Jay-Z and wife Beyoncé at the rapper's New York 40/40 club, another fundraiser was being held for the U.S. President on the other side of the Atlantic.

Gwyneth Paltrow was in charge of hosting the Obama Victory Fund 2012 event at the exclusive Mark's Club in London on Tuesday night.

She was joined by designer Tom Ford and Anna Wintour in hosting duties for the fundraising event, which aims to help secure victory for Obama at the November election.

Tickets for the event cost £9,000 each, while donors were also invited to join the 'host committee' for a reported £24,000.

President of the United States Barack Obama certainly has got celebrity star power to call on.

He said about the hosts of Tuesday night's fundraiser in New York. 'To J and B, thank you so much for your friendship. Beyoncé could not be a better role model for my girls because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent.

'We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's OK.'

Last month, he revealed that he's a huge fan of their music, and he regularly listens to them on his iPod.

He also added that he turns to a Beyoncé track during his fitness sessions.

He told the hosts of Albuquerque’s KOB-FM: 'I will say right now that if I'm really trying to get my heart rate up, Crazy In Love is a pretty good song to work out to.'

At least Al Gore tried to hide it when he funneled foreign money to his campaign via a monastery.

They’re now blatantly skirting the law, but I guess because they’re celebs it’s all fun and frolic. Whoopee!

Stop them? A jail sentence might get the idea across...

Not illegal if it’s only Americans buying tickets.

Of course you might possibly get creative with the accounting - count the British national tickets to the catering, and the Chinese towards the liquor, and funnel all the American tickets to the campaign - but I don’t know if that flies.

If a British national made his house available for the occasion and provided the food and liquor as well, and Americans were the only ones buying tickets even if they bought a table and invited a dozen foreign guests - that would probably work.

Think Bush could have done that without the Dems howling for his head?

Yeah... Me neither.

"absurdist"

That's because in the minds of all the Hollyweird celebs, any Dem is the hip candidate compared to the Pubbie. Look at how they attacked Sarah Palin, absolutely one of the most attractive, dynamic politicians this country has ever had. If the old witch Helen Thomas ran for president, they'd try to present her as hip. Looks have nothing to do with it. And since Obama is the hip-hop candidate (he even hangs out with the rap idiots) and Romney probably listens to Guy Lombardo, well there's no contest.

It’s true that Romney seems to be a remarkably stodgy person, even compared to me ;-), but Michael Dukakis or Fritz Mondale as “hip”? That was (in retrospect) just plain nuts!

"Mondale...Dukakis.."hip"

Compared to Pubbies, Dems will always see their candidates as hip heroes. Ever since JFK. Even when they're stodgy, old doofuses like Fritz Mondull and the Peanut.

Some mornings, it’s just not worth the effort of chewing through the straps to get out of bed...

Sad, but true...
