In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

galvanize [gal-vuh-nahyz]

hear it pronounced

verb, transitive

1. to stimulate to action; excite; startle
2. to cover (iron, steel, etc) with a protective zinc coating by dipping into molten zinc or by electrode position
3. to stimulate by application of an electric current

Origin: 1795–1805; < French galvaniser, named after Luigi Galvani

Related forms gal•va•nized, gal•va•niz•ing, gal•va•niz•a•tion.

70 and sunny-fall weather has come a couple of weeks early-

Obama’s promises of free stuff
May galvanize the unwashed masses
Paying for the bread and circuses
Falls to all other economic classes

That Roman mob with their demands
Have dried up the public well-
Those whose taxes supported them
Say they can just go to hell

Let them work for every dollar
At any job, and don’t make a fuss-
Obama’s minions don’t have a stash-
They steal it from the rest of us...

Galvanize

This Galvanize is a process named after Galvan Goolidge who first used it on a kitchen zinc. It might somehow involve gals and vans but that was before the Galvan and Hubbs Medal Process.

(This came from a soon to be written book called, “Great Something or Other”)
