I know it's unpopular, but all the same, don't you think everybody ought to pay their fair share?

Or are we doomed to continue socialism, just because nervous nellies like you are too afraid of doing the right thing?

Frankly we need a tax system like we had before the Civil War. That was based mostly on raising federal revenues with tariffs. A more modern era might well think raising federal revenues with excise taxes on bond sales and stock purchases might be in order (before you have a heart attack that's just for a different sort of example).

You would, of course, simply eliminate all other federal taxes and repeal the 16th amedment.

Most individuals would not have to deal with federal taxes at all in any way with an ideal tax scheme. You'd restrict tax communication to large businesses ~

As far as fair share is concerned, that depends on who is defining 'share' and 'fair' ~ and so far I've never seen such a tax proposed that would be acceptable to me!,

BTW, even postage isn't fair. There are enormous elements of cross subsidization that are highly questionable.
