DOBSON BLASTS 'VICIOUS' GOP OPPOSITION TO AKIN
WND ^ | September 16, 2012 | Bob Unruh

Posted on 09/16/2012 12:13:36 PM PDT by Uncle Chip

Dr. James Dobson, whose advice about parenting, child-rearing, marriage and faith has guided millions of Americans and whose counsel on family matters has been sought by presidents, today blasted the Republican Party for abandoning a strong GOP candidate to be U.S. senator, U.S. Rep. Todd Akin.

Dobson, the founder and president of Family Talk, which produces his regular radio program, “Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk,” told WND it is “disgraceful” that the “GOP political bosses” have told Akin to drop out of his race, have withdrawn financial support and publicly maligned the congressman.

“I regret to say that Congressman Akin has been subjected to disgraceful treatment at the hands of the GOP political bosses,” Dobson said. “They have withheld funds for his campaign, even though he won the GOP primary for the Senate seat. Karl Rove and Haley Barbour have said things about his character that are untrue. Their vicious opposition could get his Democratic opponent elected in his stead. That is curious since an Akin win could give the Senate majority to the Republicans.”

Akin is presently leading and particularly among independents. He’ll win, short of an insane push by the GOPe bastards.

I'm very interested in your assertion. What is your source for this information, it's quite at odds with things that I am tracking. This race, IMO, is no longer competitive.

Thank you for having the courage to post that apology. We probably all at one time or another have used words or expressed ourselves in a manner that we later regret.

Christians are exhorted to be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves. I think in this particular case, for whatever reason, Todd was not the former. He allowed himself to get suckered into Jaco's trap question, and there are a number of ways he could have answered that would have turned the tables on Jaco.

I personally am not concerned with whether certain people think that some (or all) conservatives are socially regressive for a "hardline" position on inalienable rights such as the right to life. Inalienable is either that which cannot be rightfully abrogated or it is nothing at all. The sine qua non of those people even being able to have such an opinion about allegedly socially regressive persons is that the people holding the opinion have already been born, i.e., they weren't slaughtered by an abortionist.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Your ignorance is astounding! Dobson’s org definitely relies on its 501c3 status.

Ignorance would define one who cannot differentiate between Dobson and Dobson's org. You're now 0 for 2.

Yes, if I lived in MO I’d vote for Akin.
I can’t stand him, and think he is an ass to hand that seat back to McCaskill on a silver platter, but I’d still vote for him (not that it would do any good).

Who is worse, McCaskill or whatever her name is, or Aikin? It’s really simple.

Just as it's simple to choose between Obama and Romney. Romney was among the last few people who I would have chosen from the field of GOP candidates, but he is many miles ahead of Obama in every respect other than his false religion, and considering Obama's choice of an apostate, Islam-honoring "Christian" church for his religious home, IMHO Obama and Romney probably rate about even on that issue. If I lived in MO I would now want Akin to drop out and I would then support another strong pro-life Pub who doesn't share Akin's politically suicidal baggage. But that's not because of Akins stance on abortion, but simply because he has shot himself in his political foot with his inept attempt to appeal to MO's pro-life voters.

Never the less, any pro-life Pub candidate is vastly preferable to any and all possible Dem candidates for the open MO seat. That's primarily due to overall GOP support for the pro-life cause, which along with many other worthy "causes" is now virtually non-existent in the almost totally Godless/socialist Dem party. There's actually no clear-cut black vs white dividing line between the 2 parties on that vitally important issue, but the line is certainly more than clear enough to rule out any Christian's vote for any possible Dem candidate for that critically important Senate seat in which a Pub Senator could deep 6 Obama's upcoming attempt to remake the US into another Euro style socialist/Marxist/atheist state. Of course that's assuming Obama wins a 2nd term, a tragic possibility which at this stage of the contest appears to be slightly more likely than not depending on what poll, if any, for which you have at least a bare modicum of trust.

I never bashed Akin. I'd vote for him without hesitation if I lived in his state.

The only thing I said about the man was that he should have put the pro-life movement ahead of his own campaign and step down for the good of the movement. After all, he did make a silly statement that made his politically toxic.

If he wins it will be his victory and his alone.

If he looses he will own that defeat.

It's all coming back to be now. Geez! And I nearly forgot about all of this.

I wonder why his supporters are bringing this old news about his rape statement back. Is he down in the polls and they need a scapegoat or something?

Do his supporters insist that his comments be his own legacy?

I’m tired of psuedo pro-lifers and psuedo conservatives

precisely...I see folks here scorching on Akin's arse that I have watched for years as soft culture war sorts now acting like they are on the board of Family Research Council

that and Akin got our resident fembots dander up...not that it takes a lot..just mention you oppose women in combat

the fun thing about this argument is we will know who was full of crap and who wasn't

sorta like all the Palin purges...all for nothing....folks pleading with JR over and over to zot anyone(even her supporters at times) who questioned Sarah over anything even the notion she might not run

now all this teeth gnashing over Akin here and he will win and when he does I will remind the jackasses when the opportunity presents...I may even do a vanity...they have pissed me off so much

or if he loses they can rub my nose in it and I will admit my folly...it's rare but I always admit when wrong...like being married..you just nut up

FR has a nasty pack mentality composed of folks who were likely hall queens in high school...it's just the nature of public internet forums...show me one that doesn't have it..you know...lol....all the anti freeper site invariably become a more sinister charactiture of this very thing they claim they left here for to begin with and this Akin dust up is just another chapter in the "ugly side" of an otherwise mostly nice journey for all of us here

Seems to me Dobson is a closet pro-abortion type ~ so to h... with him.

You couldn't be more wrong about Dr. Dobson or his belief about abortion. I have spent a considerate amount of time at the Colorado headquarters of the Christian broadcasting and literature distributing organization that he founded and led for many years, and I have heard the responses of the phone bank to callers from all over the North American continent, and to a man, or woman, they are all very much in agreement with the strong pro-life, pro-Christian, biblically correct position that has always been consistently exhibited in the strongest possible manner by the now retired founder of the organization though out his very long career as the much loved and highly respected creator and leader of family centered Christian broadcasting as well as Christian family oriented literature.

I don't know anything about his current tax status, but I do know from personal experience that religious figures such as pastors and missionaries are not exempt from federal taxes because of their position as religious persona even though the churches and most other religious orgs of any faith that they may serve and/or represent are exempt from federal taxes.

Dr. Dobson himself is a modest, God fearing hero of the the Christian faith for his many long years of support and advocacy for the Christ honoring Christian family. And furthermore, anyone who accuses him of having a self-serving position in regard to the tax exempt status of the organizations that he founded and led to national prominence in that field is as wrong as anyone could be, and IMHO makes him or her self to at least appear to be overly critical of Christian broadcasting and literature distribution in general. I hope you will reconsider your mistaken opinion of Dr. Dobson and his former Christ honoring organization(s).

Here are just a few of your comments on Akin...like I said not even taking into account all the threads you posted here beating him up:

Don’t know. This is not an issue about abortion. It’s an issue about stupidity and whether or not the Republicans should ignore the IQ of a candidate as long as they (deep down inside) a good person.

If Akin was really good for the pro-life and conservative movement the last thing the democrats would have done was to financially support his campaign. When pro-abortionists are giving money to the candidate that you support it’s RED FLAG time.

Akin got the most votes, that is why he is the candidate
The pro-abortionist crowd funded him that why he's the candidate. It's not just a coincidence that he's set back the pro-life movement with his idiotic comments that are now haunting the conservative movement.

By the way, I'm still waiting for that list of NON-GOP Establishment, NON RINO candidates, who are not democrats who are in support of Akin.

Nice try there, editor-surveyor. We got you pegged as part of Santorum supporter group #3.
Santorum has 3 types of followers:

1) Normal supporters who believed in him and once they saw who he really was or that he could not win went on to support another candidate.

2) Non-legit Sanotorum supporters who were really Romney supporters but were afraid to admit it. (they feared getting zotted from some of the conservative forums.

3) Today's Akin supports. Many in this group have an ego about the same size. An ego so big that they are willing to allow Obama’s infanticide to become law of the land to teach the GOPe a lesson. Their candidate (Akin) was funded and still supported by the pro-abortortionist democrats. This group is so angry with the GOPe for Santorum’s loss that they have the goal of pushing for an Obama victory so that they can say to the GOPe: “we told you so”.

*to this day the third group (who supports Akin today) refuses to accept the fact that Santorum was in the bag for their enemy Mitt Romney all along.

**today they refuse to accept that Akin is supported by the very people they supposedly oppose.

Final Note: Note: Unfortunately they (group 3) have been outed and pegged for who they really are. And unfortunately we can no longer blame the RINOs for any defeat in 2012. This group #3 now owns that pending defeat. They make us conservatives look bad.

Definition of insanity, please?

Claire handpicked Akin. He is her choice. They paid good money for him to be the candidate. I don't know about you but red flags go up when I find out that my “pro-life” candidate's campaign was funded by pro-abortionists.
It's no coincidence that we now hear that Akin Hurts Pro-Life Cause

The one who is “hurting” the pro-life movement is Willard who is pushing the GOP left into abortion-on-demand...
Perhaps you did not get the memo but one of the reasons why it's necessary that we conservatives win seats and take over the Senate is so that RINOs like Romney would not be able to push forward his liberal agenda. I don't see how Claire winning the US Senate seat helps us move our Conservative agenda forward but winning is exactly what she's going to do according to the latest polling data.

It should be no surprise. That's why she spent so much money to choose her opponent “Akin”.

Anyone can google your posting of thread after thread critical of Akin and your comments:

Nonesense! You simply Googled "Freerepublic, Tsowellfan, Akin" which does nothing but bring up all threads (most of them I never started) in which I commented. But my comments are somewhere deep withing the links of the list.

Anybody could do the same search using your user name.

I think people should let the Akin rape comment die so it's not an issue in his campaign against Claire McCaskill. That's where I stand.

Obviously you do not agree.

My my, pretty selective in your choices of my comments regarding Todd Akin.

There’s a BIG difference between “bashing Todd Akin” and “bashing his political dilemma”

Here are some of my comments...

If we’re going to win that seat, we’re going to win it with him, whether we like it or not.

I agree. We will either win the Senate with him or lose the Senate because of him. If I lived in Missouri I would vote for the man and do it with pleasure (unlike Romney).

That being said, he’s likely going to lose anyways. It’s all but inevitable.

We should all agree to take a timeout on the Akin fiasco.

I agree 100%!

I’m leaving the issue with this:

If Akins wins the Senate seat, he can say he did it without the GOP, the RINOs and GOPe.

It will be HIS victory and he will own it.

If he loses. He owns that defeat and the results of it. Nobody else.

One of my last comments regarding Akin (before this thread) was when I remarked how unfair it was to Akin that the GOP left his name off the electoral map on their website. In fact I was one of many who contacted the GOP and protested against it.

You launched a campaign here against the guy and you apparently speak out of both sides of your mouth to some degree when you see your original position losing traction.

The proof is here, you posted at least 15 anti Akin threads and argued with a number of freepers who were defending Akin to the point some asked when will you quit beating this horse.

Now Akin shows he might still win because MO voters ain’t stupid and you are backtracking, parsing and proving you doublespeak on this forum to try to wiggle out of what you did.

You posted all those anti Akin threads and commented negatively on his IQ and that he was a DNC dupe and so forth.

grow a spine and admit how you were wrong...it happens

The only people on our side who made his comments on rape exclusion an issue were folks like yourself. For folks like me it never was an issue.

But you panicked and went off on yer anti Akin jihad and here you are now being all Eddie Haskell about it...figures.

You allowed the liberal media and DNC to play you.

Pwned by them as it were.
