I recall the days and evenings afterwards of clear blue skies (Seattle area) with no airplanes.
Except one - a prop. plane that was high in the sky patrolling a north-south route as it passed over my house every hour or so. Would go out at night and listen to it drone overhead, and think about all that had happened.
Then one day, we were at the elementary back to school picnic on the school’s lawn with everyone else. The sound of a jet broke the silence and everyone stopped talking. A little girl exclaimed “Look - a plane!!” Not in fear, just that it was an event.
But with others you could see a bit of fear. I always found it sad that the terrorists had such an effect on us, that the mere presence of a plane in the sky would bring such attention.
But - we are over that now. (Of course still have the TSA, etc.)
