Writer-director Nick Cassavetes unveiled his new movie Yellow at the Toronto Film Festival this weekend and found himself defending the main characters incestuous love affair with her own brother....
I have no experience with incest, he told TheWrap in an interview on Sunday. We started thinking about that. We had heard a few stories where brothers and sisters were completely, absolutely in love with one another. You know what? This whole movie is about judgment, and lack of it, and doing what you want.
Love who you want. Isnt that what we say? Gay marriage love who you want? If its your brother or sister its super-weird, but if you look at it, youre not hurting anybody except every single person who freaks out because youre in love with one another.

You get the picture.
Sex worker is to prostitute as vehicle is to automobile: a larger inclusive set.
Well, yes. But we expect the decadent “artists” to push for dropped sexual restraint, just like we expect the bank robbers to rob banks. The blame falls primarily on the political leftwing who are supposed to advocate for the disadvantaged, not to create another client class for themselves. Yet that is exactly what they did, cynically, in full knowledge that a disintegration of the American family would ensue.
Interesting about artists. In some cultures and times, artists were not depraved decadent lowlifes. And coincidentally often created beautiful, inspiring and uplifting works.
Exact opposite now. Hmm, there is another factor. There are artists of all kinds who are not decadant and depraved but they are not supported, funded, employed and otherwise promoted by “TPTB/big money”. That’s another interesting phenomena.
Definitely. The political left is double guilty: by deliberately creating a legislative environment in which adultery, child bearing out of wedlock, and perversion come at no cost to the delinquent party, and by sponsoring art that no sane individual sponsor would come near.
There has always been tawdry second-tier art but the American Left engineered a corrupt system which turned our very reasoning about art upside down. Why? Lenin said “Of all the arts, cinema is the most important for us”. Decadent studio art of the 50s and 60s did not have a direct social impact, but it paved the way to the inverted system of values, by the 70s already established in the visual arts, to penetrate the mass art of cinema. Now a generation of moviemakers has been raised in Hollywood that are simply unaware of the value system of serious cinematographists even on recent memory. To them, “have sex with whoever you want” is simply a moral ABC.
How do you like the new American culture as discussed in the article?
Give it a little time, and everyone will embrace the latest Hollywood step “forward” in the new American culture as discussed in the article.
I’d guess that many on this thread, who are afraid to say so, already do.
People on this thread are making themselves pretty clear. I think you are making some false accusations.
Soooo, you approve of “love who you want”?
Can’t answer? Why not?
Polygamy? Pedophilia? Incest? Which perversion will become a “legally protected minority” next?
What the heck is wrong with you? I’ve run or helped run the Moral Absolutes ping list and Homosexual Agenda ping list for around ten years. If you want to find out my viewpoints on immorality of all sorts, do a quick read of my comments.
I’m not going to kiss your *** just because you harass me and others.
Are you nuts, a troll, or just a nasty agitator. Rhetorical question, because I don’t care. Life is short. You want my POV? Take 5 minutes and read some of my comments and you’ll know which side of the abyss I stand on.
Here comes the personal attacks and name calling.
You need to look at your anger and review your practical application of the Moral Absolutes you claim.
No one on this thread has said they disagree with the culture put forth in the article. That pretty much proves my point.
It looks as though you get your jollies attacking people and making wild false accusations.
Seek help.
In a way --- he's right. But maybe not in the way he thinks.
He's 'right' because as soon as you split procreation away from sex, you've shriveled its meaning. It's disabled. It's shrunken. It's small.
The commitment of sexual intimacy itself, still intact, still procreative, is sacred. It means:
"I'm no longer mine but yours. You're no longer yours, but mine. We belong to the children who may come, and to the 10,000 generations before us and after us, and to God with whose creative powers we now cooperate. His are the times and ages: To Him be glory and dominion, through all ages of eternity. Amen."
You didn't think of it that way? Maybe, like most of us, it took you awhile. But that's what it is.
Split off the procreative significance, and what's left? Insignificance.
"I'm, uh, in love. I guess. Or I was."
"Whatever."
"Meh."
Or in Nick Cassavetes' words, "Who gives a damn?"
This may answer your question. It didn't take long for us to find out.
Is it because you're a Palin supporter?
Members of the Palin family can be wrong on this topic - in my opinion. Can't I have an opinion?
You’re the human equivalent of an annoying little insect.
I am now officially ignoring any comments you may make.
Bye!
HOLLYWOOD MORALITY = American Culture
Even here at FR.
Ive been called names by conservative Freepers for objecting to Bristol Palins Dancing With the Stars sex dance.
Welcome to your world.
I do agree. I was flippant with my remark. But I'm tired of outrage after the cat's out of the bag.
