and since the GOP has said in no uncertain terms they will never give him money, I don’t see any one else stepping up. So most likely this seat is lost unless Akin steps aside.

Naaaah -- the GOPe will have egg all over its face if it let's this win slip through their fingers because of the misspeaking of Reince Priebus.

He can still apologize and we will all accept it, and then he can send all the money he wants without objection.

Missouri Republicans are very forgiving people.

The lines have been drawn on this, the only person with the ability to change the dynamics is Akin. As they say the ball is in his court.
For the GOP to back down now would open the up the issue nationwide as every GOP candidate will be have to explain why their party supports Akin’s views.
They are not going down that road.

True, but we are also very stubborn people! After all, we don't have a mule named after us because mules are docile and compliant animals!

The RNC has a state here full of very angry and bitter grassroots conservatives that will do all they can to make sure Todd Akin stays in the race.
