A New Haven man was arrested Saturday night after police said he broke into a home and stole the stove from the kitchen.
Police said when were called to 48 Platt St. just before 9:30 p.m. after getting word of a burglary. Police said as they were arriving at the scene, they found a man wheeling a stove down the street on a handtruck.
Police stopped the man, identified as Brian Howard, 45, and asked him where he got the stove. He told them he found it in the back yard of a home on Platt Street.
New Haven police said they went to the home and when they arrived they found the back window smashed in, the back door open and an empty space in the second-floor kitchen where the stove used to be.
Officers returned the stove to the home and arrested Howard.
He was charged with burglary and larceny.
That got a upvote from me.
When ya gotta cook, ya gotta cook.
A Democrat would come back and steal the smoke.
The police are misinformed. This was actually part of the “Crack for Scrap” program - it’s an adjunct of the better known “Cash for Clunkers” initiative.
If the cops hadn’t stopped him, he’d a come back for the smoke.
I had a water softener stolen from my house
Mr. President, do you think I’d steal???
I don’t think you’d steal a red-hot stove!
