Some druggie would make something up just to look like he was cooperating with the cops to reduce his jail time. Wouldn’t have to know you at all, just make up your address.”

But of course if your daughter is dating a druggie and the house he’s living in is in your name, it does radically increase the chances of a “mistake.” And who knows how often he came to her house in the company of the daughter or to pay his rent.
Not that it excuses the cops with regard to capping the dog, but but it goes to show how that “laying with dogs, gettig up with fleas” can affect you even once-removed.
