They will do anything to make it appear completely packed. It is part of the psychological game as people want to be part of movements and be popular. They are trying to make their movement appear to be the 'cool kids'. I am even hearing constant bumps on XM Octane and Liquid Metal stations for the convention due to the musical line-up.
