In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.
Slake
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

oh i am very familiar with the yappin yinzers! What area of the Burgh is the wedding to be? I love Oakland in the fall, bc it reminds me of going back to college. i always love going back there to visit.
i bawled my head off last night hearing all of those stories. There is no doubt in the world that Romney is a good man. Since Dems do everything for the photo op, they cannot conceive of someone being genuinely good and caring as a way of life and not wanting credit for it.
Yes indeed.
I got misty about that too. I can’t imagine how gut wrenching it would be to have a 14 year old ask for help in writing a will. A lot of adults would just avoid that situation, but Romney stepped up to the plate. The tears are welling up again, just writing about it.
Just wait until the Dem talking heads get hold of this story. They will say nasty things like, “Those people were probably members of the LDS — not ordinary people. Romney wouldn’t help ordinary people...” Or some, such tripe!
Check out my new tag line, borrowed from another FReeper — Kenyon.
We had Eastwood, they have a heroin addict and a 30 yo law school grad who wants everyone to pay her way.
Our dog was around 30 lbs, so he needs a little diet, too. Only 3/4 cup of food and limit the snacks.
I think it is funny that so many are so dumb that they don’t realize that Eastwood’s turn on the stage was mostly a comedy routine with political overtones, lampooning some of the characters he has played, among others.
I wonder if Obama’s minions
Are wishing they had thought
A bit longer on the short list
Of speakers they have bought
Those vapid Hollywood liberals
Babble hysterically and slake
The demand for bread and circuses
Without a coherent sentence break
The object of their theatrics-
The phony sympathy and rages
Is to keep the liberal plantation
Operating off the media’s pages
He should have played up Dirty Harry saying “I can’t remember if it was 15 trillion or 16 trillion..”
I think he was trying not to do too much of his Dirty Harry persona to avoid a trigger happy image-silly, but you know how easily some get their panties in a twist...
I know more about Romney after last night than I have learned about Obama in 4 years. The tears just flowed here...when I tried to tell my husband about those two families I kept crying and breaking down. No parents should ever have to bury a child. Romney stepped up to the plate when so many others would have faded away. Amazing man.
A+++ Clint got the job done. Clint is sharp as ever, but his delivery has slowed some as we all will. It’s disgraceful that the liberal left is mocking him. Age discrimination if you asked me.
Had my elderly neighbor and his wife down for a cookout today. He had to bring his O2 tank. He hadn’t had a hot dog cooked on a grill all summer. He enjoyed himself, but had to leave to go take a nap. His wife takes care of him, she needed the break as well. Was glad to have them.
A+++ Amazing. I have not met one Dem here in real life who even wants another 4 years of this. Some show interest in Romney, others claim they will not vote. All show anger towards theWon and blame him. Openly state they do NOT like him or his policies. And this is NY state.
Our Missy is slipping. We have tripled her pain meds, she still peed the floor 3 times today. Vet discovered a mass in her stomach. He said no sense in finding out what it is, as she is 14yrs old and they will do nothing. She eats very little. Has lost over 2 lbs. We have to carry her up and down the two steps to get to the lawn. Poor thing.
My old cat, 12 years plus, has got something. He has nosebleeds sometimes. He doesn’t go out a whole lot or go very far any more but other than that he is showing no signs.
I hope you kept your neighbor a safe distance from the open flames. ;-)
Thank you! Dirty Harry was hilarious last night-
The sharpest, most saavy person I ever worked for was an 84 year old engineer who climbed the ladders on job sites himself to make sure everything was done right-it used to make me damn near have panic attacks.
He also taught me all about septic tank construction-by making me get in there with the guys, dig the ditches for the drain fields and lay the pipe-I avoid doing that, if possible, but at least I do know how... He died on a hiking trail in Guadalupe Mountains Park at 98.
I’ve seen Clint Eastwood doing Q&A spots recently on a couple of the cable channels, and he was neither slow nor disabled. Last night, he was speaking extemporaneously last night, and playing a skit for laughs-wasn’t that an old, old Bob Newhart skit?
My favorite part of the convention was Paul Ryan’s speech. I live 30 miles from Janesville. We are so proud of Paul.
I also very much enjoyed Clint Eastwood last night. I heard his teleprompter went out on him and he had to wing it. I am glad he is on our side. He has a new movie about baseball which I am more likely to see now.
Im so sorry to hear about the ailing pets : (
My old Kitty boy is fading slowly, as well-he was adopted as an adult cat 7 or so, nearly 9 years ago and he had a rough early life-evidence of old healed broken bones, etc, and he had mysterious seizures the first couple of years we had him, but they gradually went away. The vet thinks he must have sustained a major head injury as a young cat.
Most of my cats have lived 18 or more years, but with Kitty boy’s rough past, 16 is a minor miracle. He was a always a bit over weight but has gradually lost a bit, even though his appetite is still great-I doubt he will last the winter.
I wish they lived as long as we do, but all you can do for pets when they get to sunset is take care of them and give them the affection that makes them happy.
