I worked for a small Water Agency. Started out in treated water and moved to IRR later.

Mostly an equipt. operator(Backhoe, Excavator, dump trucks...

Rebuilding, replacing, repairing Irrigation canals and reservoirs. Building wood and metal flumes as well as maintenance.

Honest work, and 33 years of it is a long time. You earned your retirement. Plus I'd wager it's hardly a "gold plated" one.
