Word For The Day, August 28, 2012
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

1. presumptuously conceited, overconfident, or proud
2. exaggerated, excessive, or arrogant
Just read the paper. Penn State says “Oh, it’s not cause of the lyrics. It’s just not something that originated here, etc.”
And, to close the circle, “Sweet Caroline” was inspired by a photo of Caroline Kennedy.
Monessen changed the start of school from yesterday to today and didn’t tell everyone. So you had parents taking their kids for their first day of school and no one was there.
I doubt she was ever sweet. I bumped into her when we were both teenagers at a tennis tournament in Forest Hills and fat and sloppy was how I would have described her.
Thank you, SG-I’ve never thought of Caroline Kennedy as “sweet”-maybe she was as a very small child, but what bits I’ve read/heard about her makes her seem a rude, boorish snob.
OK, I’m through to “Let’s kill Hitler” now. So, was there a reason why Melody/River would have been Amy’s childhood friend other than just to surprise the viewer?
It was written about a little girl with a pony in a photograph.
I’m blanking on it, mainly because I did not like the River Song character at all. I can’t remember them being childhood friends. That “Hello Sweetie” was so grating.
You could have just said “Spoilers!” ;-)
You’re right. There was no end to how she annoyed.
Rush would be awesome. Not sure Romney would pick him though.
Maybe it’s Snooki with her new baby.
So much for a masters education for the administrators. One would think they could coordinate ONE date for the start of school and make it known. Seems like the parents tried to get it right.
With the whole war on women meme they’d be wise to have the surprise speaker be Juanita Broaddrick.
“Snooki with her new baby.”
Not likely-she’d be a better fit for the ‘rat convention-an affluent, obnoxious Julia, complete with the kid-born-out-of-wedlock...
The River Song character was one reason I quit watching the series, but I’m not a great scifi fan-what happened to her, anyway?
I do like “Battlestar Galactica” and “Star Trek” in all its incarnations, but that is pretty much it for the scifi...
A masters degree in education is a joke. I remember working on organic chemistry labs while my education major friends were working on bulletin boards. In fairness, I did take some graduate level education courses in grad school and trust me, they are a joke.
I don't know. I've got 6 more episodes to watch before Saturday. The penultimate one is called "the wedding of River Song."
LOL
Yesterday, while wine tasting, I met a NJ school administrator. I said how much I liked Chris Christie and said “this is where NY residents back away from me in fear”...LOL She said she lost her job with Christie’s changes, then got rehired. She is OK with all he has done as her state is making a comeback. Basically, she supports him. What a pleasant surprise.
well you know - giant hoo-ha’s are scary for the same basic reason babes with tiny hands are awesome
