How are you doing?
Thanks for asking. We’re ddoing OK. My mother found somebody at her new retirement home that she knew from her previous life. A MAN, believe it, or not. She’s 99 and he’s 92. No romance there, but he’s a doctor and a close friend of late friends of hers who have been gone at least 15 years. So, she now realizes that we did not file her away into some mideval home for the aged. This is a GOOD place because a doctor lives there!
We have her apartment fixed up so cute with lots of new things, but her list of demands keeps growing. Yesterday she wanted to ask the $119/hour private nurse that we hired as an advocate to hem her jacket where the thread pulled out. I had to explain that Peggy was just to make sure that her meds and her therapy were going right — not to hem her jacket. There never seems to be time to get the IMPORTANT stuff done.
The residents and the staff around her are so nice. I wish she’d just sit back and relax and enjoy it. She is moving around more and doing some things for herself, however. This is a good thing. She actually went to the beauty shop yesterday and tried to make an appointment, something she was refusing to do. She did it all on her own. This is MAJOR. Unfortunately, they were out, and she has to wait until Wed.
