Do not think this is going to produce a bump at all.

By the looks of things, Issac is going to be a weaker storm

Remember what happened to Bush’s popularity after 9/11? Even people who DIDN’T like him approved of him. His approval rating approached 90 in the month or two after 9/11.
Obama could well see the same thing.
This storm REALLY needs to end in a gentle rain somewhere in TX.
To: Black Agnes
Looks like it will weaken in the area of Cuba.
TX needs the cooling rains.

Each model run is further west. There is a nice cluster around Pens., but more and more are going Mobile....the trend. And environment good for explosive strengthening.

AL or FL panhandle hit. Strong cat 1 or weak cat 2 which is not a big deal for FL or AL. We can tell that idiot to stay home and keep his (our)money. His endless photo op trips would only get in the way.

We should win this election, but we now probably lost.
What are you talking about? It's a storm. Talk about hyperbole.

It will be a Cat 2 or 3 Storm
This storm really hurts Obama and he knows it.
I lived in that area for decades
The Oil Companies will shut down the Oil Platforms and it not a switch
They remove crews and God only know what if any damage it will do
We get about 26% of our Oil from the Gulf and Gas will go up before the election by how much nobody knows until it hit and if it hits an Oil refinery oh well

Maybe. But who is in charge now in New Orleans? No more idiot Nagin. Plus we have Jindal there. And this will be a much weaker storm than Katrina. If they try that, it’ll be easy to shoot down.
But yes ... the Dems are likely to get a big bounce after their convention. They’ll slam the GOP’s convention and will have slick Willie speaking and Obama will deliver a great speech with his teleprompter.

Apparently you don’t get that disasters are good for incumbents....MAJOR bumps often follow.

“He can’t do anything until Governor Jindal asks for assistance.”
Exactly. And wasn’t it the mayor of NO and governor of LA who President Bush kept calling to see about federal help but kept getting turned down? And wasn’t it Democrat politicians who kept school buses in flooded lots when they could have been mobilized early on to get people out of Dodge to safety?

The good news is the first convention usually has the biggest bump.

Of course now this week’s news will be the storm, not the convention.
