Yes, the police do use hollow point bullets. Hollow points are not some “super bullet” , they are just a bullet designed
Hollow pints have better stopping power because they are designed specifically to expand on impact and to expend more energy on impact.
This stopping power is important because the police need to disable an assailant as quickly and efficiently as possible to protect both the
civilian public and the police officers from violent criminals.
Hollow points are also more fragile than full metal jacket bullets because they generally they have a cavity in the tip and the metal jacket does not extend around the tip and the tip is designed to come apart and expand in a controllable fashion as it penetrates the target
This is also a desirable from safety standpoint. Hollow points do not have has much penetration so officers do not have to worry as much about a bullet going through a wall and killing an innocent bystander in another room if they miss the target.
Hollow points do have the drawback that they generally do not penetrate body armor as well as other types of bullet
Many agencies train with the same ammo they carry on duty, because there are variances in performance between different ammunition.
Is emergency. Everyone is to get from streets!
I’d like to think that after the carnage of the 20th century, the Russians would value human life a little more. I’m hoping a large amount of this ammo winds up on the surplus market.
