It has also been posited that the origin of Celtic or Proto Celtic cultures could have come from as far east as the Indus valley . One researcher that I can recall noticed structural similarities between some Celtic and Indian Musical forms. One thing is a fact: the Celts got around. At the time of Christ, Celtic communities streched from modern day Turkey (Galatia), to modern day France and Switzerland (Gallia Cisalpina) to Spain (Galicia)to Ireland (Eire). With that kind of travel history i wouldn't be suprised if the Celts came from that far away.

Well, the bagpipes didn’t come from Europe, that is for sure. They originated in the Middle East.

There's Celtic cultural history, and Celtic ethnic history. When you get to Spain it's very clear that Celts from the Mediterranean conquered the North about 700 BC and over a period centuries moved to the British Isles and adjacent European headlands.
British historians thought that to be ridiculous until DNA demonstrated that the Irish were genetically identical to Basque people in Spain.
More recent DNA study reveals that the Brits themselves are genetically identical to the Irish, and not the Saxons.
They are reeling under the assault. We have them on the run now.

I seem to recall seeing an SC post about soldiers brought from the far east of the Roman empire to man Hadrian’s Wall who ended up settling there. Can’t remember the name. The letter S keeps floating into my consciousness.
