I think Akin should stay and win the election. He can still win this thing. Nobody fights anymore. The entire political parties are wimps.

My fear is for the blunders yet to be made. Akin will spend the whole campaign trying to explain what he meant rather than talking about what he stands for. That's why McCaskill was thrilled to get him.

Yep, the media is slamming this down people’s throats, trying to lump the GOP in with supporting rape and being backwards misogynists. This unfortunately does play well with moderate’s and independents, specifically women, politically, Akin had zero chance of winning if he stays in.

If he stays in, he’s a true bastard, because his own campaign people as well as the GOP would have told him that he’s not going to win, not only that, he’ll drag the rest of the ticket down in MO. That’s just plain ego and selfishness.

It’s pretty bad when your opponent is hoping beyond hope that you STAY IN the race. McCaskill was out giving interviews in support of this guy yesterday.

he proved it by going on Hannity’s show and acting like a fool. they understand that if he stays in, the race is over and McCaskill wins....easily.

Number one....I did not see Hannity or his clips of the show even. Second, basically the Republicans are saying that McCaskill is a strong candidate who can beat a conservative. Sad!!! Republicans are the dumbest people ever. No wonder we are sattled with the worst candidate ever in the history of the Republican Party...ROMNEY!!!! I can’t stand him and his liberalism.

The fact remains that Akin is a Solid Conservative with Deep Pro Life Convictions and just because he said something that the MSM, DNC, feminists and especially RINO’s find offensive does not mean that he should drop out of the race?

Bottom line, who do you want running the Republican Party, Solid Pro Life Conservatives like Rep. Akin or bedwetting RINO’s who will cave to every demand of the Abortionist Democrats and MSM?

No, Republicans are saying that McCaskill is a weak candidate and ripe for the picking, which is all the more important to get a competent candidate in there to take her on and get this fool out.

After what he said, there’s no going back, and its going to be a weight that drags him down along with the MO ticket and will have ripples nationwide as the media is showing.

"As if a vote in November will be based on his one comment, no matter how many here think the American public are easily-lead idiots."

The Chairman of the GOP has asked that he withdraw. The NRSC has said they will spend no money on the race. The Crossroads SuperPAC has withdraw from the race. Kit Bond and other former GOP Senators have called on Akin to withdraw. Polling has already started to move against him. Much more will happen in the next few days. Watch the Presidential polling for Missouri and see what happens, as well. He will surely cost us at least one Senate seat and will hurt GOP races in the State and probably beyond. Claire McCaskill wants him to stay in the race. He will have little money and GOP support. The Democrats couldn't get a better opponent if they paid him.

It seems like more FReepers are learning the O'Donnell lesson, however.

Pointing out O'Donnell's uselessness was the beginning of many a flame war.

Is there a third option?

Because neither is appealing. If by “Solid Pro Life Conservatives like Rep Akin” you mean a bunch of frothing at the mouth morons who can’t get elected, I don’t like that option.

Nor the second.

But how about this “intelligent, coherent and well-spoken conservatives who can on take a hostile media and not make fools of themselves?”

We have more than a few of those, we need more, not guys like Akin who sound like they flunked out of the 10th grade.

Listening to Rush.......Rush is putting subtle pressure on Akin to leave the race.

He’s being diplomatic, and taking multiple angles, but there’s a soft whisper from him telling Akin to leave.

IMHO

Yes, we all know what he meant: women who are raped aren’t capable of getting pregnant, or at least not in enough numbers to really matter, because their bodies somehow compensate for the trauma of the rape by rejecting the embryo. So women who do get pregnant weren’t really raped (or secretely enjoyed it)

Which, any way you look at it, is a WORSE claim - a decidedly misogynistic one - to make than the “legitimate” verbal fumbling.

Everyone but about 6-10 of the most naive or rosy-glass wearing posters know its over if he stays in, I’ve never seen the Republican Party unite this thoroughly over something. Every single faction has come out and said “look Akin, you don’t have to go home but you gotta get up on outta here.”

I mean every single wing, from the Tea Party to the main Party and everywhere in between. He’s had his funding pulled by the NRSC, American Crossroads won’t fund him, nor will any other large PAC’s, he’s going to be cash poor for the remainder of the election if he stays in, basically, the message is clear, he is no longer welcome and needs to go, the fact that he’s taken so long and seems to be dragging this out, only reinforces what a goofball he is.

Akin did not make a fool of himself, but instead made a thoughtful comment which made the RINO’s that control the Republican Party cringe.

Akin won his primary and Akin broke no law, but to offend some yellow bellied RINO’s.
